Still A Trio Of Terror

Time for more kitty pictures! Has it really been over a year since I posted any? Well, the Trio of Terror are as naughty as ever. Also, now all three are happy to jump up on the counters without aid of a chair (Sylph also likes being a pillar cat), though Nightshade is the only one who jumped onto the radiator and then a high windowsill right on top of our TV sound bar. Obviously, this didn't end well (sound bar crash, boom, banged). He's lucky he didn't break anything. =/

If you want to pop over to past posts with Trio of Terror pics, you can find them on Kitten, Kitten, Kitten, Kitten Intermission, and Kittens to Cats! Onward with new pictures...

First of all, they still love their cat tree, though it's kind of hard to fit all three on it nowadays - lol.

I am also not allowed to make the bed.

Look at the little heart kitties. I think it's great that we got siblings because they love each other and snuggle instead of hating each other. Though for a while earlier this year Sylph hated Rikku after Rikku came home smelling like the vet (she had her teeth cleaned). Thankfully, Sylph wised up because I love it when the girl kitties snuggle like this to form a heart. ♥

Here's the goofy Sylph, "Ice, Ice Kitty" (yes, sing it to the song that just popped into your head, but say meow instead of those silly beats). She comes running when we're getting ice from our fridge and licks up any little shards that escape. Also, I've gotten a couple pictures of her sitting on my lap. She looks pissed I took a picture, though. There isn't supposed to be any proof she likes to snuggle occasionally. Nope. She's still the most aloof one of the three, and she especially hates strangers -- she'll hide for hours after someone leaves until she deems it safe to emerge.

Nightshade is still our derpy Boo Kitty. No, cat, you're not a stuffed animal, and I don't appreciate you knocking down a bunch of stuffed animals just so you can lay there. Though derpy, he's still the most laid back cat in the house, and he puts up with a lot from my youngest (no matter how much we tell her to be nice and not pick him up).

Rikku is still my snuggle buddy, especially when I'm sitting up in bed. She makes it really hard to get up in the morning when she plops on my chest. She's the, "I'm the Kitty, gotta love me." Yes, must pet her, or she'll chew on your Fitbit. And she's taken the crown for naughtiest in the house. Crazy, too -- Rikku Cuckoo Kitty. Also, she loves to hang off the bed like you see in the picture. Reminds me of those "Hang In There, Baby" posters. So we always say, "Hang in there, Cuckoo."

One more picture. Hey, wait, that's not one of the Trio of Terror, that's Cathulhu!

Kittens to Cats!

It's been almost a year since I posted about our Trio of Terror. Yup, that means they're no longer kittens! What happened? How did they become cats so quickly? Where has the last year gone? I ask myself that last question for so many things.

Anyway, I figured it would be nice to post a few more pictures. Even though they aren't kittens, they're still our Trio of Terror, after all. If you didn't see the previous pictures, visit Kitten, Kitten, Kitten and Kitten Intermission. The picture below is the 1-year anniversary pic from when we brought them home. They love that cat tree. And it shakes when Sylph or Shade jump up to the top tier. O.O

Look at Rikku. Doesn't she look so sweet and innocent? She's our smallest kitty (she was not the runt). She's also our lap cat who likes snuggles and purrs more than the other two. This is usually welcome except for when I'm trying to write or when her butt is stinky. =P Oh, yes, that sweet and innocent thing? Hardly.

Rikku wanted some Girl Scout cookies. Thankfully, she didn't reach the cookies, or she would have needed a trip to the vet due to the chocolate. She's also chewed on the corner of my laptop, and enjoys chewing on the corners of my folders when I'm using them. Oh, and her or Nightshade also munched on my Fitbit. They are lucky they're cute.

Nightshade is still the biggest climber of the three. And I say biggest because all of them like to be high up, but the girls won't jump on the counters (or the pillars) unless they have a chair to get them closer. Shade is still Boo Kitty. He's our derpy cat. Oh, so derpy. And he likes being a gargoyle on the stair railing pillars to get our attention. Our old cat Amara used to do this. He's not super snugly until he gets into certain moods, and then he's usually all over my eldest daughter. He loves her to no end. But he does put up with a lot from my youngest -- it's like he doesn't care if he's smushed or battered. See, derpy.

What happened to the runt?! Sylph is now the biggest cat of the bunch. Scratch that -- fattest. XD Even if there's food in her bowl, if I'm anywhere near the kitchen and she's awake, she's begging for food. Tubby Tortie. And don't think she's the good one that doesn't chew on things. I've caught her gnawing on my youngest's My Little Pony castle. As a matter of fact, a couple nights ago she woke me up because she was chewing on the plastic bins under our bed... And while she begs for love and attention, she only wants scratches. Don't pick her up! She insists she's not a lap cat at all. She's also the one who stays hidden when strangers (to her) are in the house.

They're all such naughty kitties, but we love them anyway. And who doesn't like cute cat pics? OK, sorry if you don't, but I think our cats our goofy and adorable.

Kitten Intermission

Remember this post: Kitten, Kitten, Kitten? Well, I figured we're about due for more kitten pictures. Though, nowadays, you'd think they were full grown cats! Our little stinkers are going to be huge!

The kitty pile picture above is from January, almost 2 months ago. So, they're about 6 months old. Big, no? And now they're even bigger at 8 months old! I mean, what happened to our cute little runts that could barely jump onto the bed? I think I fed them too much.

We have learned that Nightshade is the naughtiest of the bunch. He is still dubbed Shade and Boo Kitty, but he's also added Billy Goat Cat to his aliases. he jumps up on everything. Nope, not an understatement. This is the kitten who decides being on top of the cabinets is a great place to be. Counter to fridge top to corner shelf to cabinet top. Little snot. And of course he goes after anything that looks dangly or small and plastic. The worst thing, though? He is not graceful. So when he jumps on top of stuff, things get knocked over. I was tempted to buy him a bell so we know when he's being naughty, but honestly, he's an oaf -- we already hear when he's being naughty. My eldest daughter is his favorite human. He loves licking her chin as if he was a dog (clearly he never got the memo that he's a cat, not a billy goat or dog).

Rikku is my chest cat. Yes, chest cat -- a lap isn't good enough for her. She's my buddy. Now I know why I was drawn to her when I first saw her. I also call her Fluffers and Alto Kitty. She has the lowest meow I've ever heard from a cat! She is also Rikkuku Cuckoo Cat when she gets in her squirrely, crazy moods. Annoyingly, she still suckles, and wakes me up at night when she's doing it! She also thinks it's great fun to lay on top of the toddler when she's sleeping. As if we don't have enough problems keeping the toddler asleep. Right now, she's the smallest of the three. I hope she stays smaller. I want one small kitty, like my Roland used to be. I love my little blonde tabby, but I think it will get rather cumbersome if a fifteen pound tabby tries to curl up on my chest.

And finally Sylph. Remember this little runt? A runt no more! She is already becoming the resident fat cat. She has a huge belly on her. I also call her Sylphster and Fiddledeedee. Mostly she's the Tortie, sometimes Tubbie Tortie. She loves stealing my spot in bed, and she is a scavenger. If you are preparing any type of food in the kitchen, she is under your feet waiting for you to drop something, anything. Also, if you don't feed her ASAP, she will start chewing on the strangest things. Like the metal stove, the corner of a wood stair, plastic. We've been trying to find the right food for them and when they were only on canned food throughout the day, she was all about chewing on stuff she shouldn't!

All in all, even though they can be naughty rascals, they're all still sweet kitties. And I think we finally got that stinky poop issue under control. Well, it's still stinky, but it doesn't make you want to run out of the house anymore at least. I hope you enjoy all of the pictures!

Kitten, Kitten, Kitten

Same word three times. Kitten, kitten, kitten. Hm, what do you think that means? Could it be that we have some new friends in the house? Could it be that we have three new friends in the house?

Maybe.

OK, OK. Yes, we have three new kittens! We intended to only get two, but when we went to the local Humane Society, there was this litter of four kittens. I wanted the black one, hands down. I also was attached to the buff one. However, my husband and daughter loved the little gray one. Our compromise was just to get all of the ones that we liked instead of making one of us sad. The people at the Humane Society assured us, the last kitten in the litter would be much easier to adopt out as a single kitty (there was just no way we could take four - three was pushing it!).

Meet the Trio of Terror! Don't let this picture fool you. I am utterly amazed I was able to grab my phone quickly enough to snap a picture of all three of them together where they were all clearly visible. This awesome picture took two weeks of patience to get. They don't like to sit still, and when they're sleeping, they're rarely all in the same spot.

First up we have Nightshade, Shade for short. I also call him Boo Kitty. Oh, and Binky Kitty, since he likes to play with the toddler's pacifier. As you can see, he's piled up the nicknames already. We should also call him Veggie Kitty. For some reason he loves veggies. He nabbed a piece of broccoli the second day we had them, and he growled at me when I tried to take it from him. No plate of food is safe on the table with him around.

Then we have Rikku. Yes, her name is from Final Fantasy X and X-2, and I've been warned she'll become a little thief because of it. She's already a little rascal, of course, and she throws down with her brother spectacularly. She likes to suckle things, and her favorite spots to sleep are on soft things, especially our pillows behind our heads in bed when we're chilling upstairs. Her teeth are rather sharp, and she makes sure we're aware with her love and play bites.

Finally, there's Sylph. Her name is a type of fairy as well as a summon from several Final Fantasy games. She is the peanut of the bunch. However, her energy is boundless. She doesn't let her size stop her from getting into everything with her siblings. And she loves plastic bags. If I hear one rustling somewhere, I know it's her playing with it, or trying to curl up to sleep on it. We also can't let her sleep on the pillows like Rikku because she will play with hair, and then there will be kitten claws and teeth all caught and tangled in your hair and you'll be screaming for someone to help you get her out! I may speak from experience.

The hardest things with these little fluff balls is keeping the toddler in check. She's kind of a mean child. I'm waiting for the day the kittens teach her a lesson. Rikku's already scratched her twice, but she has yet to learn. One day. I hope.

But I digress. Back to kitties. Not only are they so stinky that one poop in the litter pan can clear a whole level of the house. They're also little piggies. I guess that might explain the poop.

They're also naughty as hell.
